The importance of sunscreen cannot be overstated: it protects our skin from harmful UV rays, prevents sunburn, premature aging, and reduces the risk of skin cancer
In this context, we tested our WO emulsifiers, OLEAMULS® and SESAMULS®, against a benchmark, in a suncare systems with SPF 30 using mineral UV filters.
The spectrophotometric determination of static SPF (Fig. 1) demonstrated the following results:
* OLEAMULS® WO: SPF 34.9 (27.4% higher than the benchmark)
* SESAMULS® WO: SPF 29.2 (6.6% higher than the benchmark)
* Benchmark: SPF 27.4
The findings reveal that OLEAMULS® WO provides significant SPF boosting properties, ensuring adequate protection.
While no sunscreen is completely water-resistant, SESAMULS® WO closely approaches the maximum level of water resistance (Fig. 2), showcasing impressive results.
* SESAMULS® WO: 95.2% (7.3% higher than the benchmark)
* OLEAMULS® WO: 88.3% (0.4% lower than the benchmark)
* Benchmark: 88.7%
