Nowadays more than ever, we are aware of the fact that every action we commit has an impact on the life of our planet. That is why it is important to live and work in the most sustainable way possible. And this is what we have been doing since the start with our biodegradable ingredients!
Biodegradability is a concept that is considered fundamental both by manufacturers and clients; they look for products made of natural ingredients and that have the lowest possible impact on the environment. Fortunately, this European Union directive helps us to protect this environmental issue even from a juridical point of view.
Our goal as ingredients manufacturer is to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Concretely, most of our ingredients, NATRUE and COSMOS approved and compliant, have attained a level of biodegradation that meets the requirements for being considered “readily biodegradable” according to OECD 301B’s guidelines.
Below you can see the profiles of our biodegradable ingredients, organized according to their function.
There are five criteria that need to be met in order for a product to be considered as biodegradable:
- IC content of test substance solution in medium ≤ 5% of TC
- CO2 emitted by the controls < 70 mg/L
- Difference within replicates ≤ 20%
- Degradation of positive control > 60% < 14 days
- Degradation in the toxicity flask on day 14 > 25%
