Scutellaria baicalensis, also named Chinese skullcap, is a perennial herb in the Lamiaceae family. Since 2,000 years, it is used as a traditional medicine in China and for such a reason it has been officially listed in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia.

Flavonoids is the main active ingredient of scutellaria baicalensis. Scutellaria baicalensis has anti-oxidant, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory effects.

Scutellaria baicalensis root extract is widely used in anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory cosmetics. It can also be used as a cosmetic additive for whitening, sunscreen and anti-aging.
