This emulsifier can incorporate up to 70% interlamellar water in its liquid-crystal structure, providing an immediate refreshing and light skin feel upon application. Versatile in formulation, it is compatible with all active ingredients and well-tolerated by the skin. Simple mixing/homogenizing devices can be used, such as adding the oily phase to the aqueous phase while stirring or using a turbo-emulsifier.
The resulting emulsions are stable and fresh, delivering a pleasant sensation of lightness even with a high oil phase content. OLEAMULS® LOW mimics the skin’s natural barrier, offering an effective shield against trans-epidermal water loss, thus enhancing ingredient delivery and hydration.
In an in vivo study comparing OLEAMULS® LOW to a synthetic ethoxylated O/W emulsifier (PEG-8 Oleate), basic emulsions without active ingredients were tested. OLEAMULS® LOW showed equivalent efficacy in increasing skin hydration but maintained it over time, unlike the synthetic emulsifier. Additionally, volunteers preferred OLEAMULS® LOW emulsion for sensory experience and treatment effectiveness, with 100% satisfaction.
